Launching of Wira Zero Waste Online Programmes

Due to the pandemic, the Wira Zero Waste programme took place and in compliance with the standard operating procedures set by the local government.

The classes were conducted in both English and BM and students were separated into 3 different cohorts, spread throughout the months August to October 2020. Initially, learning was carried out through Facebook, Telegram Messenger, Google Meet and Google Slides. However, we finally decided that creating a separate public course on Open Learning would be more inclusive, as this allowed individuals from outside the allocated age range to join in as well due to their own curiosity and interests.

At the end of the program period, we managed to reach out to over 100 students across Malaysia, who provided positive feedback regarding what they’ve learned. The Open Learning platform is still available to all who would like to take the free classes. Similar to the facilitated classes, the courses are available in both and in at the Open Learning platform.

Established in 2016, Zero Waste Malaysia (“ZWM”) is a non-profit organisation (PPM-044-10-29032018) registered under The Registry of Societies of Malaysia.
